This album surprised me. Initially listening to it, I thought it sounded like off brand Weezer coming with a soft summery alt rock vibe. And then I really sat down and paid attention to this album and it blew me away. A more accurate description of this album would be Weezeresque, but with small town energy, infused with a bit of folk sound and all of the bleakness and desperation of rural America today. Song after song kept hitting me with raw emotion and stark imagery that transported me and made me feel the anguish, confusion, and rage of being trapped in a place that won't let go. I'm not sure how often I'll return to this one, but it ended up being a powerful journey that I would highly recommend taking. (Edited)
