Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.7/100, a mean average of 70.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 19.4.

A sub-20 minute run time works wonders for this record; were it any longer it would run the risk of completely falling apart. As it is, this post-pop-punk effort (can we call it that?) moves at an absolutely blistering pace, each song following a basic, addictive song structure accompanied by meaty production that serves to outfit each track with a real weightiness that you wouldn't normally expect from the genre. Highlights include the anthemic "Mark Chen," the unfortunately relatable "All My Friends Are so Depressed," and the fun nostalgic sendoff title track.
On their own the songs don't necessarily suggest great meaning or importance. Smashed together into this package, however, "I Used to Go to This Bar" really manifests as something much greater than the sum of its parts, and something that seems impossible on the surface: A post-pop-punk masterpiece in the Year of Our Lord 2026. Catchy hooks from the modern pop punk band that has grown up but hasn't lost the spark of creativity or youthful abandon. 20mins of varied sad buy music that scratches the right itch sonically. (Edited)
I would say this is an album for the teenage market - college or high school kids (which is definitely not me). It was fairly raucous and has youthful exuberance which might appeal to student listeners, and it was radio friendly which kind of disappointed me a bit because I was hoping for more edgy songs. It seemed to be mostly songs about school. I thought this was going to be more punk rock than it actually turned out to be, but it was harmless enough and not many duff moments. Not my thing really.
