Caught me completely off-guard and then yanked me along for the ride. The most innovative, non-boring noodling I've heard since Mdou Moctar. Très bien les gars! 8.17/10

This is everything pop music should be. It's catchy, well-written, heartfelt and not tainted by Hollywood superproducers for playlist consumption. I hope Solya has a long career ahead of her, because this is a fantastic debut album. 7.9/10

This is what Earth was supposed to be. I have no idea if I buy that the frequency it's recorded at is intended to heal, but damn is this some of the best rock/brazillian/ambient fusion I've heard. Thank you Eddddddddddddd. 7.86/10

First album of the year that's actually impressed me. All of the parts are intricately arranged, they aren't naval gazing and clearly a lot of love was put into this album. I hope this one takes off on this website, because it's great modern art rock. 7.86/10

This was so close to being one of the greatest hidden gems I've stumbled upon. It's held back by the vocal delivery and lyrics, as the arrangements are beautiful. The problem is I can't tell if the lyrics are this hit or miss because the album was mostly written 15 years ago and Richard is preserving them, or if he still thinks they're acceptable. 7.75/10

Most pop singers get so bogged down in trying to sound a certain way that they overproduce the album and end up sounding like every other pop singer. Not Hemlocke Springs who sounds so unique, it's almost annoying at times, but that's the strength of this album. The fact that she's great at writing hooks and melodies helps as well, making this a thoroughly enjoyable listen, that I suspect I'll like more the next time around. 7.65/10

A return to form, or at least the semblance of form. I think Gorillaz have long since stopped being about the band themselves and have turned into the vessel for the artistic vision of Damon Albarn as he goes through from his mid-life to late-life. That's not a bad thing here, with some truly breathtaking pieces of Indian music. A bit long however, could've been trimmed down to 12 songs. 7.6/10

My knowledge of Japanese music is embarrassingly limited, so consider this my entry into it. Quite enjoyable with two talented singers, some fantastic musicianship and great songwriting. I wonder if the reason I'm not rating it higher is the language barrier. 7.58/10

God, if this were two or three songs shorter this could be a contender for album of the year. Beautiful, bombastic and unapologetically personal, this is certainly one of the most important albums of the year, or at least I hope it is. Worth diving into, even if I have individual gripes. 7.56/10

Wasn't sure what to expect with the pretentious band name and album title, but this is quite the album. Equal parts tender acoustic and noisy shoegaze, nothing seem to thread the needle between the two genres astoundingly well. I'm not sure I'll remember much of it, but it's a good listen nevertheless. 7.56/10
