This is everything pop music should be. It's catchy, well-written, heartfelt and not tainted by Hollywood superproducers for playlist consumption. I hope Solya has a long career ahead of her, because this is a fantastic debut album. 7.9/10

First album of the year that's actually impressed me. All of the parts are intricately arranged, they aren't naval gazing and clearly a lot of love was put into this album. I hope this one takes off on this website, because it's great modern art rock. 7.86/10

This was so close to being one of the greatest hidden gems I've stumbled upon. It's held back by the vocal delivery and lyrics, as the arrangements are beautiful. The problem is I can't tell if the lyrics are this hit or miss because the album was mostly written 15 years ago and Richard is preserving them, or if he still thinks they're acceptable. 7.75/10

Most pop singers get so bogged down in trying to sound a certain way that they overproduce the album and end up sounding like every other pop singer. Not Hemlocke Springs who sounds so unique, it's almost annoying at times, but that's the strength of this album. The fact that she's great at writing hooks and melodies helps as well, making this a thoroughly enjoyable listen, that I suspect I'll like more the next time around. 7.65/10

A return to form, or at least the semblance of form. I think Gorillaz have long since stopped being about the band themselves and have turned into the vessel for the artistic vision of Damon Albarn as he goes through from his mid-life to late-life. That's not a bad thing here, with some truly breathtaking pieces of Indian music. A bit long however, could've been trimmed down to 12 songs. 7.6/10

The gang's all here for a worthy cause. This feels like a celebration of a new crop of artists that have risen in status in the last ten years, with some elder-statesmen and women here to round out a moving, if overly long collection. Two shout-outs go to Black Country New Road, who have redeemed themselves after the last album and Beth Gibbons who managed to upstage The Velvet Underground on their own song. 7.54

I don't know what I was expecting thirty years into the career of a minor Britpop band but it most definitely was not this. Some fantastic songwriting here and while there's nothing particularly unique here, it's well executed enough to be worth at least one listen. 7.5/10

A wonderful collection of interpretations of one of the greatest bands of all time. Are they improvements? Probably not, though they're definitely worth the listen if you're an existing fan of the Heads. 7.5/10

I think I would probably appreciate this album a lot more if I had any interest in watching the movie. Fresh off of Brat, Charli continues her usual cycle by pivoting into more arty music, in this case strings evoking John Cale (he's here) and glitchy sounds and textures to demonstrate the beauty of Bronte's story. Kate Bush this is not, but a worthy adaptation in its own right. 7.5/10

Cole returns after a very long break with a lot to say. Yes it's too long, but the quality doesn't ever drop below decent. There are some great songs here and arguably more important, Cole sounds completely at peace. He's entering middle age and I get the sense that he doesn't need to justify himself anymore. Yet he doesn't sound complacent here, transcendent might be the better word. 7.48/10
