Gastem is a hard rock band from Maryland (USA), formed in 1985. They were a prominent part of the Baltimore regional scene. — Washington— Virginia and played energetic, "clubby" hard rock, typical of the mid‑80s, but with its own pressure. Among the participants — Rob Galpin (vocals, guitar), Craig Stegall (drums) and Mark Schenker (later of KIX).
What does the album sound like
Classic 80's hard rock. Lots of guitar riffs, dense drums, and driving vocals — no frills, but with a good pitch.
The energy of live performances. The album feels like it was recorded for the stage: the tracks are built to "rock" the audience, with simple but memorable hooks.
Signs of the epoch. The arrangements have both synthesizer pads and electronic percussion effects (for example, electronic volumes from inexpensive modules), which gives the sound a characteristic "raw" tone.
A balance between melody and heaviness. There are faster, more aggressive numbers, and mid-tempo stuff with an emphasis on the choruses. (Edited)
