"Out of Focus' first album does an interesting take on jazz- and blues-inflected progressive rock, with a peculiar German twist on music similar to British prog like Traffic, Jethro Tull, and Gravy Train. The crack rhythm section propels the music along on repetitive but unusual funk grooves over which guitar, organ, and flute riff and take turns soloing. Though more song-oriented than later efforts by the group, there are plenty of long instrumental passages with some classic heavy psychedelic guitar burn-up as well as chunky organ chords and airy flute flights to give the music plenty of texture. Moran Neumuller's gruff voice and awkward English may turn off some listeners, though the dark humor of his lyrics on tracks like "God Save the Queen, Cried Jesus" show a group who's political without getting stuck in the rut of their own dogma. For many bands, a record as good as Wake Up would be a worthy culmination of effort, though with Out of Focus it was only their launch pad as they continued onward and outward with even better subsequent releases." "In this intricate album the Swiss of Krokodil present an original blend of massive bluesy folk compositions and weird experimentations. It's certain that this band has a krautrock sensibility, mainly due to their primitive improvisations, a taste for sound experimentations and freak out instrumentals. The difference with krautrock bands is that their musical influences are not cryptic and keep a feeling for the late 60s pop music. "Lady of attraction" is an emotive psychedelic piece with evident folk arguments thanks to the acoustic guitar and flute sequences. The vocals have something plaintive. The track includes some brilliant spacey rock arrangements thanks to the Mellotron. The bluesy tone is given by the Harmonica parts. "With Little Miss Trimmings" is an accessible folk composition dominated by guitars and simplistic melodies. "Oddissey in Om" is a pure krautrock hymn, a totally stoned composition starting with eastern psych harmonies thanks to percussions and sitar. It carries on a stumbling cosmic krautrock with perpetual jams. "Green Fly" is a nice psychedelic pop composition with a discreet garage rock flavour of the sixties. "Looking At Time" is an other propulsive, dynamic bluesy rock attack with lot of Harmonica. Well thought with lot of fantasies, weird & cool things this album can be an interesting recommendation for those who like the most "indulgent" side of progressive rock." (progarchives.com)

Excellent chart. It seems you are only missing a few artists I would have included - Nosferatu, Hairy Chapter, Jeronimo, & Necronomicon come to mind immediately.

Well that is an outstanding chart!
you have so many brilliant albums that seemed to be long forgotten - good to have them back.
I do like the improvised music best,
so my favorite band is CAN - I feel they are the kings.
They are unique, innovating and sometimes they are POP as well.
Popol Vuh is sometimes too esoteric for me, but well, if you love them...
outstanding chart!!!
