Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 2% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 82.2/100, a mean average of 81.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.7/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 16.9.

Dont copy their tunes! Ralf will get you!
R.I.P. Florian Schneider, co-founder of electronic music's most pioneering and influential group. Death on April 21st announced by Ralf Hutter today, Wednesday 6th May 2020, died after a short battle with cancer.
Criminally underrated on this website, Kraftwerk pretty much invented electronic music and lay a lot of the foundations for hip hop as well with their instrumentals. Autobahn, Radio Activity, Trans Europe Express, the Man Machine and Computer World are all essential records, which symbolises a consistently great catalogue

Superb Band. I got into them through David Bowie. So glad I did as they are wonderful.

I heard Trans Europe Express for the first time at a disco in 1977. Yes, it broke first in the discos. And I heard Autobahn for the first time on AM radio in junior high school. Yes, it was a Top 40 Pop AM hit. This AMAZES me.
My favourite band ever! Words can't describe how much their music (yes, a whole load of cold, minimal electronica) has moved me & changed me.
They've released several futuristic albums in the 70s which remain utterly beautiful, brilliant and pioneering; "The Man Machine" & "Autobahn" are two of my favourite albums ever. Even their 2003 "Tour De France Soundtracks" is a tremendous piece of art.
I just hope they release something new before I die, but even if they don't, their stunning collection of music is completely unrivalled. Long live the robots!

Kraftwerk is one the most influential bands ever. Their impact is just beginning to be understood, since the changes that they had on music are still unfurling. The quality of their music is also incredible, and their ability to make some great music out of such simplicity is unbelievable.

I've always been amazed by what Kraftwerk achieved back in the 70s. The instruments they were using, and pioneering, were so rudimentary and basic. Every instinct tells me that electronic music shouldn't be able to convey so much emotion or depth, and only a handful of bands have managed to pull that off. But Kraftwerk stand out; their music is written in the same way as a conventional pop song, but played on instruments that sound like nothing else.
