One of the fist in your face album that has impressed me the most in the last 20 years. After an incalculable number of listens, i still cannot put it down. Not for the faint of heart. Another album which unfortunately does not get the due it deserves for playing on the frontiers of genres too much. Those who like punk and their music heavy just cannot stand the theatrical swing band dimension of that group (try uneXpect instead if this is you); and those who want theatrical swing band cannot deal with how heavy this gets at time (try PFM's Dracula or the pub rock band from Wales which is Man if that is you). Very nice translation of the King's hit in Jazz music. Will likely be the last from this outfit since the initiator of the project, Ian Wallace an actual KC alumni, passed shortly after the recording of the second volume. All the more reason to appreciate and cherish what this band managed to do here. Excellent. [First added to this chart: 07/18/2012]

This is amazing. Really good. Drone post-jazz ambient. But this time around the ambient moody jazz is often accompanied by a female voice which makes all the difference. [First added to this chart: 11/16/2012]

This band is mainly a vehicle for Anneke van Giersbergen's solo work once she quit the band The gathering. Anneke made the Gathering much less heavy than they were when she came in; to the point that they became hard to market and had to do it themselves. But she wanted to go even smoother and even more free so she finally quit the band. You can't really blame her from wanting to expand her horizon given the amazing voice she has and her obvious love of singing. Just a shame she could not pull a Phil Collins and have a successful solo career while remaining in the band. [First added to this chart: 07/18/2012]
