Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)

This artist is rated in the top 6% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 78.4/100, a mean average of 76.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.5/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 21.9.

It doesn't matter to me if these guys stop producing any worthwhile music. We used to somewhat expect that of musicians, that they'd go through a dearth of creativity 20 years into their career. I think this almost universally happens. It doesn't mean that they're no longer worth supporting. Their initial run of wondrous work is unsurpassable. They still bring rebellious fervour to countries that need it and (albeit in a more shallow way) stick it to the man. Go Muse

One of the best bands of all time, who started writing lyrics to question the inequality caused by capitalism, then Western "democracy" removed them from radio and TV and the sheep portrayed in Pink Floyd's Animals album are still all lined up... Méé Méé Méé

With all due respect, Muse sounds artificial, tryhard, and annoying most of the time.

2000’s Muse was a very good band, but their last good release was The Resistance.

Probably one of the few bands in the 21st century who are both fairly creative but can also pull in a big crowd, at least in the UK. I think the fact that they are probably catering to both sides, especially in recent years, has possibly been holding them back slightly. Origin of Symmetry is my favourite of theirs, and it could be argued that that it is their most creative album, but it's nealy 20 years old now.

They do have a couple of phenomenal songs, but for me they haven't been totally phenomenal over a whole album, not quite.

Still a very good band though and extra marks can be given for their live performances (Muse are one of the bands I've seen the most, more than most of my favourite bands).

First 4 albums are aces. With Black Holes and Revelations Muse started getting a bit more commercial and songs like Soldier’s Poem borrow heavily from mid-70s Queen.

Early tunes like New Born, Hysteria, Butterflies and Hurricanes, Stockholm Syndrome, Fillip, plus many others are magnificent. Muse clomped riff from Radiohead b-side Inside My Head for New Born. Atmospheric music is certainly entertaining and makes for a good experience live in concert.

Post-Black Holes is disheartening as attempt at commerciality damages catalogue, a la Coldplay. This is primarily heard on lack of drum technique later vs earlier releases, where Dominic Howard’s drumming is superior on first 4 albums.

Good band, but the 2nd law and Simulation Theory fucked up. Drones was acceptable. First five albums (especially Origin of Symmetry and Absolution) were magnificent.
