Civic is back with a new very energetic album with highlight after highlight.

On this album this Dutch band with the French name is really starting to sound like R.E.M. without copying them. Especially Hole In The Curtain, Shadow, One More Time and Aboard are great with the latter going into a krautrock groove. The only bad point is there are no drums but a drum computed but that doesn't prevent the album to become one of the best of the year.

This solo album by Matt Berninger is as good as the best album by The National, High Violet, and certainly deseves a higher ranking. All tracks are fantastic with Little By Little, Bonnet Of Pins and Breaking Into Acting as the even beter ones. One of the best albums of the year which gets better with every listen.

Wist coast seventies rock but this album certainly has something to add. Two members coming from the Wilco entourage and this can certainly count as a quality label. The songs have a laidback character but sound oh so exciting at the same time as The Ones and Winter Shore prove so grandly. Even the songs that I originally thought were weaker show (like Hearts Arrive) that they definitely have their place on this album after a few listens.
