What they said about Throbbing Gristle frightened me, I guess we were around 15, when my friends and me got hold of their records. I remember how one felt too scared, to try a first listen at home alone. Those great years between twendom (do you say "twendom"?) and childhood. Maybe todays kids try to stand the most terrifying horror movies, to get a similar effect. I'd been deeply scared before by the screams on Suicides "Johnny Teardrop". But when putting on the freshly released "Industrial Records Story" compilation the suffering sound emerging from the floating darkness of "A Sunday night in biot" just panicked me. What was that!?! Throbbing Gristles "We hate you was simply scaringly brutal and Leather Nuns "Slow death" torturing in its imagination of unbearable pain, but Cabaret Voltaires track displayed an uncertaincy, the feeling that something might happen on this warm summer night in the streets of biot. And then, just as I thought it might be just about the mood, like in a Val Lewton Production, it happened.
