Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 89.1/100, a mean average of 88.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 90.1/100. The standard deviation for this track is 15.7.

Bares a strong resemblance to Silver Rocket by Sonic Youth, which was recorded just after this was released.
Wonderful song. You can definitely hear My Bloody Valentine trying to perfect their iconic sound.
The eponymous track to the very successful, hard-hitting, direct-to-the-senses EP You Made Me Release is driven by a brutal guitar riff and savage drumming. These are attributed to guitarists Belinda Butcher and Kevin Shields, bassist Debbie Googe, and percussionist Colm Ó Cíosóig - then you realise that it was a coordinated, concerted effort by every contributing personnel member to make this piece magnificent.
Shield and Butcher's vocals loftily float very smoothly over the pulsating instrumentation, per shoegaze standards, which cause beautiful harmonies. But there is an intermission. The single breaks down midway - from 1:40-2:20 - with chaotic guitar noise resonating from all directions, the randomness of the notes played making everything distorted and disorienting. Kind of like how disorienting or frustrating the relationship has become between the narrator and the intended audience (listener).
The premise of the song is unclear, but the lyrics obviously explore themes of death and suicide. The narrator even postulates / recommends the listener to commit suicide. So, strangely, the lyrics are dark or menacing, the vocals that sing them are gorgeously harmonic, and the instrumentation is head-bangingly raucous.
Not only is it a raw fourier into shoegazing, an experimentation that's reminiscent of Sonic Youth's, but live performances of "You Made Me Realise" are also infamously noted to often close concerts by descending into a cacophony of loud sounds. Depending on the concert, this, what is known as "the holocaust section" [section 1:40-2:20 on record], would be expanded to be as long as 15 or 30 minutes. Loudness measurements have recorded closing concerts at as high as an ear-splitting 130 dB in loudness, above the threshold of pain, and have subsequently resulted in self-purported days-long tinnitus and loss-of-hearing cases.
Although the lo-fi sound may make it sound dated, "You Made Me Realise" remains a staple of My Bloody Valentine performances. It's even often cited (and generally understood) as one of the highlights from this very influential band.
