On the Backs of Angels has a very interesting and well written introduction. However, comparatively to the other songs on A Dramatic Turn of Events, why Dream Theater released this one as a single is a mystery to me. That pattern of releasing lesser songs has been common to Dream Theater’s career. So, of the 9 songs on A Dramatic Turn of Events, I would say that this track is tied with Far from Heaven. Both songs are great, but they don’t represent as Dream Theater’s best.
