Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)

Essentially the album's recap tune, and a good one at that. It borrows elements from and improves upon both Ravine (more focused on the keyboard) and The Lamia (quicker tempo and more fleshed-out rhythm section). Of course, it most heavily draws upon the title track, and while it's not nearly as bombastic or fulfilling, it does it justice. Considering how the track is about Rael choosing to rescue John from the rapids over returning home to New York, I think the mellower, darker feel is quite suitable. As a retread tune, it's certainly worthy of its place on the album.
I've always liked this song since first hearing the album 20 years ago, but then it kept growing on me to eventually become on of my favorite tracks on what's become my favorite album. Not only does it draw upon the opening track, it also seems to contain elements of The Lamia, my other current favorite.
This is the more dramatic, slow, complimentary buildup bookend to the opening title track. It's a last gasp of tragedy for brother John crying for help.
