Hey this song isn't bad at all, the verses have a lovely melody and the jangly guitars make this song a fun listen.

I don't get the hate for this song, it's not the worst on the album, that being said its not nearly as good as most of the others but in general its an ok song.

Fair enough, but probably the low point of the album...

The song that completely tarnishes the, rubber soul, album. This song proves that the Beatles were still not thinking along the lines of an album mentality. As far as they were concerned, rubber soul, was just another collection of songs. How else can the inclusion of, what goes on, be explained? Ringo Starr was a decent drummer, totally unique in his own way, but the fact the band always had to give him a song to sing on every album(although interestingly, not on on, a hard day's night), most of the time it ends up being the worst track on the record. This is the constant problem with the Beatles having to accommodate Ringo. On, yellow submarine, and, with a little help from my friends, it worked, Ringo's character was perfect for those tracks, but, what goes on, is awful. A silly country throwaway. The only decent moment on it is the line, ' I used to think of no one else, but you were just the Same', but that's hardly redemption enough. No, what goes on, is the song that simply stops, rubber soul, from being a great album(although in truth, run for your life, and, wait, aren't exactly stunning either), but, what goes on, is such a let down, that if they had left it off the album completely, and released a twelve track album(also dropping, run for your life), it would be a better record.
