Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 91.4/100, a mean average of 91.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 91.8/100. The standard deviation for this track is 11.7.

Impressive opener. Both musically and lyrically.

What an opening line. The first part of the track is true brilliance.
Just incredible. Absolute masterpiece. Belongs in the top tier of Genesis songs, no question. One of Hackett's finest moments, both on electric guitar and on the 12-string. One of Gabriel's finest vocal deliveries, told overtop a picturesque romanticism of England. Truly a song that I can put on at any time and enjoy all the way through, singing along with every word. I'd have to think long and hard about whether this or Watcher of the Skies is my favorite opener to any Genesis album.
Very nice song. For once, Banks' keyboards do not dominate the overall sound (there are a few parts that bathe abundantly in the typical mellotron sound though). The best and most essential contribution this time comes from Steve Hacket in an exceptional way. His guitar playing is among the best that this interesting song has to offer.

Is that the Pokemon Red/Blue Game theme? Yes, it is! Also it is a great piece of music, with interesting motives.
This is through-and-through prog. Never standing still, never boring, just frantic, grand, emotional, mind-bending. Wow

Gun to my head and I have to pick a favorite song of all time...... this might be it. Gorgeous in so many different ways. Gabriel's influence on this is prevalent. Even though I am American, I love all of the British references. Takes me on a special trip. Phil Collins' Billy Cobham-esq drumming is mindblowing.
It's not -quite- Watcher of the Skies but it's very, very close. Great opener. Genesis always had very good openers.

I love this song, but the first few minutes are pure genius.
Carrying a medieval-English theme with some excellent prog rock riffs, this is a great opener.
