Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 88.3/100, a mean average of 88.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 88.8/100. The standard deviation for this track is 11.1.

Some years ago this was one of those songs that I knew without knowing the name of the song nor the artist. Their dark and gloomy album 17 Seconds (with The Forest on it) was the only thing I had listened from the Cure until then.
One day this hit the radio and I heard the Cure had written it. I just couldn't believe my ears!
La mejor cancion de The Cure
Overplayed as hell, but in my opinion far better than many other of their pop efforts.
That opening riff always gets me, and I always end up forgetting how much I love this song.
To me, this song is very overrated. I am a huge fan of The Cure, and I do respect their more poppy side, but this should NOT represent them at all, Robert Smith agreed. Picture Of You, One Hundred Years, Faith, A Forest, Open, etcetera represent The Cure much better.
A fine, upbeat pop song. Melodic, sweet. Not amazing, but very good.
