Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 88.7/100, a mean average of 87.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 90.3/100. The standard deviation for this track is 16.5.

Quite possibly one of the most-scandalously-overlooked tracks of the early 00's - to the point that on first hearing it today I couldn't resist commenting and rating. To the point that I have overlooked it or have never been exposed to it for nearly 11 years of its existence. And, to the point that only 1 1/2 minutes into listening to "Heartbeats" for the first time, I realized that this belonged with the sounds of legend.
I'll keep this short, but with its impeccable sound production, really, and that funky bass line, the rhythmic and panned, weird, wobbly or synthy electronic sounds, all melding into the texture with the lead singer's vocals, the piece is a tour de force of a synthpop listening experience. It's clear that The Knife's been influenced by techno/trip-hop/grime greats, while in turn influencing a new generation of electronic acts.
This song never gets old. It's timeless.
(I´m still not sure if it's a love song from children's perspective. Or is this song declaring denial of a higher entity?)
