Close your eyes, and those pianos and strings could fool you into thinking this is some long-lost cut from his Thriller days.
But that beat - which is so early 2000s that it may as well be driving a Merc CLK convertible and be wearing one of Missy Elliot's puffer jackets - gives it this warm, late summer nights feel, and a delirious smoothness to its groove that make this an instant MJ classic.
Harks back to his roots but also shows how he always stayed ahead of the curve. A fine, fine piece of contemporary R&B.
