@ Daydreamer - if you're referring to me, and not the other commentators regarding Jackson's voice - I said wasn't an amazing voice, as in, nowhere near the league of Mike Patton or Freddie Mercury. That's not that he didn't have a voice. It's that he didn't have an amazing voice. Patton and Mercury are examples of amazing voices. That's the difference. Jackson's a bit Mickey Mouse sounding in comparison.

The guy saying he didn't have a great voice is clueless. I'm not his biggest fan but man he had some pipes.

He didn't exactly have an amazing voice. Let's face it, it wasn't a voice anywhere near the league of Mike Patton or Freddie Mercury. His music was superficial throwaway pop, which hasn't aged that well - some of it, terribly in fact. His performances were self-indulgent and bloated... but he could dance. Although, it takes more than being able to dance to impress me (and even his dancing was repetitive). Overrated? Absolutely. Jackson's music is a one size fits all type of music - for people who aren't really into music.

It is bad style to down-rate an artist. And I admit, he could sing, but boy, did he he make awful records. I like Ben, though.

Off The Wall is great and Thriller is one of the best albums of all time. But then the quality just started sinking from there. Bad is decent, but Dangerous, HIStory and Invincible are all rather medicore, even if none of them albums are particularly bad. I still have allot of respect for the man though.

Perhaps the best musical performer of the past 30 years, and undoubtedly the master of the pop song.

Michael is a great artist and ahs some of the catchiest and best pop music ever made. He was also an amazing showman and dancer. Michael had a warmth and kindness of heart that would behumble anyone. He did not deserve the treatment he got from the media and evil people. My 2nd favourite after Prince.

I don't think his catalog is as strong overall as some contemporaries (Stevie being one that comes to mind) but he is the King of Pop for a reason. I didn't realize what a genius he was until I watched a bit of This is It. The scenes of him working with his band were incredible. The guy really knew music and might be the finest dancer I've ever seen.

Of course I remember the moment I heard he had died.
