Rating metrics: Help Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 63.4/100, a mean average of 62.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 62.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 22.6.

This would be a good 11 track album .... Tracks 1-9 and the final two tracks. The tracks 10-14 are woeful they bring down the whole album.

Very underrated indeed. It has some down points, particularly on the second half, but it has many many bangers. The first 4 songs are pretty good, then of course we have "You Rock My World" and "Butterflies". Then it kinda drops for me after "Speechless", but the closing two tracks "Whatever Happens" and "Threatened" are spectacular. Of course, this album was famously boycotted by Sony, but I also think that if it had a few less songs, maybe it would feel more compact.

HOWEVER, MJ's albums are pretty underrated on this site as a whole.

All songs are rated higher than 80/100 but everybody gives a 60/100 to the album. I simply don't get it!

Michael’s least good album.
HIStory was his first inconsistant album but Invincible has even more fillers (most of the second half is weak).
The best songs are Break of Dawn, You Rock My World, Unbreakable and maybe Heartbreaker but most of the rest is disappointing and again too long.
I think a 9 or 10 songs album would’ve been much better.

A lot of charm. Wayyyy too long but that in itself leaves room for the imaginative listener to make its own satisfying selection.

Another great album from MJ. A bit of the same stuff again, but I’m not in the least sad this exists.
