…Aaand, we’re underway. One of the most riveting “Ooo Ooo Ooo” harmonies you could ever compose ushers us to our seat and prepares us for the feature presentation. We thought we were here to listen to an album, and we are, but we’re also here to see someone speak. Tonight’s MC and your friendly announcer is none other than Stevie Wonder. What a fabulous way to open this bound-to-be classic record.
Love’s In Need is not only a gorgeous song with a lovely chord progression and a fabulous Stevie vocal, but it sets the tone for the album’s messaging right away and it introduces us to one of the record’s major types of tracks, the extended coda mantra. And I wouldn’t change a second of it.
