Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 91.9/100, a mean average of 90.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 92.2/100. The standard deviation for this track is 12.9.

One of the most beautiful songs ever written
The Boxer too
Suas vozes são incríveis e a canção é magistral!
My favourite studio vocal performance, along with McCartney on "Here, There, and Everywhere"
Very emotive song that builds such a strong climax from start fo finish.
One of the best songs I have ever listened to, no exaggeration. This song brings a tear to my eye every time I listen to it, and any song that can do that is instantly on my favorites list.
One of the finest vocal performances of the recording era. Great production kept the song exciting. Just a fantastic work.

Fantastic work. Best folk song I've ever heard. Garfunkel's vocals is amazing, and the song itself is so very beautiful.
I remember in the 70s the UK singles charts would often have 5 or 6 year old singles re-appear on their charts..."Bridge over Troubled Waters" is a good example. It originally came out in 1970, but in the late 70s it showed on the UK top 100, topping the singles chart for a few weeks, for some unknown reason. There were many other singles re-entered in the singles charts 5 of 10 years after their original release. There wasn't a rhyme or reason as to which songs would re-enter the British charts. I can't remember the which songs specifically. very interesting..do any British member of BEA remember this?
