Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 22% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 77.6/100, a mean average of 77.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.9/100. The standard deviation for this track is 13.4.

I like the mood created here especially by the guitar. The ending is quite strong and Phil's vocal is good. I don't pay much attention to the lyrics it's the general feel of the song I like.
Like much of We Can't Dance, Living Forever is cynical, this time attacking society's conformity and the way it obsesses over diets and other trends. It's fine enough lyrically. Where it falters is musically. Whereas I Can't Dance succeeds with a more sparse backing track, Living Forever falls flat, as Rutherford's guitar and Banks' keyboards appear intermittently in the verses. It feels quite a bit empty and not super satisfying to listen to as a true pop tune. The song does gain some points back for having a pretty interesting closing section with Banks on the keyboards while Collins proving some strong backing drumming, but it's far from the greatest keyboard section of Banks' long career. Not the best song on this album, and not the best '90s song about living forever (check out Oasis for that one).
