I support Kida's constant banning on the grounds that he is the worst person on Earth. _________________

On the contrary, I think a lot of members here get a personal rise out of focusing their attention on the negative. Take a look at J-Man's charts for example. I think it makes them feel superior sshhhh. |
I think you're missing the point here. How I feel about these things is irrelevant, I'm talking about the forum as a whole. We can't socially engineer each individual that comes, all we can do is create an environment that doesn't suck, taking it as a given that people will typically act in a certain way.
And don't you talk about other people making themselves feel superior, Mr. all recognized music charts are crap.

Maybe it's my personality type, maybe it's from living in a huge city where people are known to be brutally honest. But I generally agree with The Poe about censorship and what not. It all depends on the direction of the debate. If it's a clash of opinions in which both sides are presenting intelligent arguments, then it's great. That how we learn and grow. When it's just a bunch of monkeys throwing shit around at each other to be assholes, then that's totally different. And I assume that's what Sp4cetiger was referring to in regards to those ESPN message boards.
I'm not sure which reoccurring character samjackson was, but after he came and acted stupidly on the history of popular music thread, I pm'd him back and forth a few times. And I don't think he's a troll. I think he just had some anger built up and misdirected it.
A lot of us are social misfits, so I think some people just don't know how to act, and release bottled up emotions in stupid places.

I think some people here are confusing the issue of censorship. When people are against censorship it's in the actual society that they are against it, where language usage is just one of the areas of action and a fairly minimal one at that. Here it's the only one, so the laws that you see limit people from doing stuff (and sends them to prison for doing them) in a supposedly free society that also respects freedom of speech translate to limiting people from saying stuff (and banning people for saying them) in a cyber-society that expression of thoughts is the only area of action.

It takes quite a lot to get banned on BEA and it's got nothing to do with censorship, what a Naples argument. Everyone who has been banned has been because they make this site a less enjoyable place for the majority of everyone else, it's not because they've had unpopular opinions it's because they've been very antisocial in expressing themselves.
If all the banned users returned to BEA tomorrow I'm guessing a lot of major users would leave this site pretty quickly, it'd be a shit place to spend time. _________________ Shut up mate you're boring!

It was, and that's pretty much what was happening in the history thread, as far as I could tell. Maybe my threshold for stupidity is too low, but I didn't see much substance there...
I'm not against giving people second chances either, but as I understand it, he has been given plenty.

My threshold for stupidity is probably just far too large. But i'm also the type that tries to psychoanalyze why someone is acting out like such an idiot and empathize with them.

Would... a psychoanalysis thread be a good idea?
