Not to stoke the cinders, but I tend to separate lyrics from reality (which may or may not be the intention of the lyricist, but it doesn't matter, blame Biggie), and I believe a significant part of the most acclaimed gangsta rap is incredibly conscious of itself, at least at times, from Illmatic to "Suicidal Thoughts" to Good Kid mAAd city to "Thuggin'". I will say that Pinkerton reads like Elliot Rodger's manifesto had he found a guitar instead of a gun, and was really into asian women.

Well, yeah, of course there's worse shit in the world than questionable rap lyrics. But that doesn't mean those lyrics don't have any sort of impact.

Look at the crazy bullshit ICP continues to inspire with their juggalo culture. Stupid people will do stupid shit regardless, but when's the last time a Yanni fan lit someone's arm on fire.

ICP gathers the most mentally unstable of our generation and puts them in contact with each other, they are a bad example. Crazy people do crazy shit all the time, this is only getting news time because its linked to ICP

but group hug for not nominating any death grips albums BEA! im proud of you!

Yes yes yes. I was afraid to say this too early, because I thought it might actually remind someone to nominate Death Grips. This is a huge success.

Idk, I've always liked them. Maybe I just have bad music taste.

I'll be honest. I was hugely tempted to nominate Exmilitary. I really enjoy the caustic abrasiveness it has (and it doesn't take itself too seriously like its followups IMO). Preferred my choices though.

1) It isn't hip-hop.
2) You're wrong.

Original Pirate Material is light years ahead of everything Death Grips ever did.
