- Post subject: Need music to exercise to
|
So I got an iPod after being mp3 player-less for two to three years. I'm also beginning to work out (well have been for the past six months) and found how great music is to work out to.
Currently, my exercise playlist consists of Talking Heads, LCD Soundsystem, and Daft Punk. Anymore any of you can think of? I'm thinking about just buying a dance compilation disc.
Thanks a bunch!

I go for a 30 minute run most days and I find Arcade Fire "Funeral" is a good upbeat listen, also "Silent Alarm" by Bloc Party
Animal Collective - MPP
The Stooges - Raw Power
Interpol - Turn on The Bright Lights
MGMT - Oracular Spectacular
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever To Tell
My most frequently visited ones

I could never listen to 'Funeral' as exercise music! You're crazy. I have, however, listened to Search and Destroy by The Stooges and that song's a blast to work out to! But the rest of that album is pretty tame in comparison. I will try out the rest though! Thank you RainyWins!

albums are impossible to use as exercise music; the slow tracks really throw you off. here are some songs that always get me going, and keep the energy way up
Stooges- I Wanna Be Your Dog
Stooges-Search and Destroy
Stooges- Shake Appeal
Stooges- Death Trip
Beatles- Helter Skelter
Outkast- BOB
Nirvana- Scentless Apprentice
Wire- Ex Lion Tamer
Clash-Hateful
Clash-Spanish Bombs
Pixies- Tame
Flipper- Sex Bomb
White Stripes- Black Math
White Stripes- Little Cream Soda
Gang of Four- Natural's Not In It
Gang of Four- Ether
Spoon-Jonathan Fisk
Spoon-Is Love Forever
Spoon- Got Nuffin
Spoon- Back to the Life
Vampire Weekend-Giving Up the Gun
My Bloody Valentine- What You Want
Sonic Youth-Hey Joni
Sonic Youth- Pacific Coast Highway
DJ Shadow- Mutual Slump
Daft Punk- Digital Love
Daft Punk- Crescendolls
Daft Punk- Superheroes
(pretty much anything from Daft Punk)
Jesus and the Mary Chain- Taste the Floor
Yeah Yeah Yeahs- Zero
Yeah Yeah Yeahs- Black Tongue
Yeah Yeah Yeaahs- Y Control
New Order- Temptation
Beastie Boys- Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun
Beastie Boys-Egg Man
Avalanches- Since I Left You
Avalanches- Radio
Avalanches- Frontier Psychiatrist
Avalanches- Two Hearts in 3/4 Time
Sonic Youth- Hot Wire My Heart
Modern Lovers- Roadrunner
LCD Soundsystem is usually in there too, but it's tough to listen to a 7 minute song when running. That's pretty much a comprehensive list of my running mix... enjoy

If you're going to exercise to Daft Punk, why not One More Time and Harder, Faster etc?
BOB and Hateful were inspired choices though.

i usually listen in that situation to a more dynamic music: Club, House, Trance ...etc. here's some artists: Virgo, Daft Punk, David Guetta, Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Ralf Gum, FG Club (french compilation) ...etc

I love you! I actually haven't listened to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, so I'll have to do that. Been listening to Search and Destroy loads over the past week, it's AMAZING when you're on a high. I actually had just added Ex Lion Tamer to my playlist, which is a weird coincidence you mentioned it. Everything here looks pretty good, I may just use this as my playlist! Thanks a lot Purple!

Ah, I've only heard of Daft Punk and Tiesto from those, but both those would be great to exercise to so the rest must be as well! I'll check them all out. Thanks cartoken!
