Echoes Of The Dreamtime, Miranda Lee Richards

I stumbled upon my selection for the 2016 Album Listening Club while surfing youtube for some music. It instantly appealed to me as a folk album with a psychedelic feel to it. The lyrical content caught and held my interest as well, no "silly little love songs" (what's wrong with that?) here.

It plays great on vinyl, all the songs work together nicely and flipping to the b-side starts with Julian and the sitars.

I'd be interested in what everyone thinks. I don't usually listen to new stuff that often; its something new I've been doing since discovering this site.

One thing I like about ALC is how I get to listen to stuff I would never pick myself.

Echoes of the Dreamtime is very far from my usual interests, but I enjoyed some bits of it, particularly the darker tunes, and I would highlight First Light of Winter and Julian as the best examples (you're right about the sitar work in Julian, it works great, and in the end makes it the most charming song on the album). Already Fine is fine for a closing track too. I'm definitely less fond of the more poppy efforts, like Tokyo's Dancing.

Overall a nice listen, if I'm not becoming a fan, at least I got to hear what a female-sung folk album may sound like in 2016. Thanks !

I enjoyed this. Didn't blow me away, but I thought it was a nice folk record, good pick!
