Ok...I kinda suck at writing so I'm just gonna let the music do the talking.

Idoli seem pretty cool from what I've heard, but I have a bit of a hard on for Minutemen and it'll take something special for me to vote against them, easily one of my favourite bands of all time.

After Šarlo, we've got another of the early 1980s new wave/post punk bands from Belgrade. Idoli also participated on the Paket Aranžman project with 4 songs, and as Šarlo, they also split fairly early. However they released a couple of great releases, one of which is considered by many to be one of the greatest albums ever to be released in this region.

OK, so:
1981:

Paket Aranzman by Various Artists
I've been whoring this album so often, that I hope at least some of you have listened to it by now. Idoli's contribution is IMO not as strong as Šarlo's 4 songs, but it's still pretty great new wave music. A bit more "ska"-oriented than their later work.

still 1981:

VIS Idoli by Idoli
One of my favourite EPs of all time. This is quite "poppy" actually, but still a great example of Yugoslav new wave.

and... 1982:

Odbrana i Poslednji Dani by Idoli
This is one of my favourite albums of all time. Characterized both by the raw DIY production (I think it was produced by the band members themselves) and its sense of melody, it's a wonderful blend of different genres. It varies a lot from track to track while always retaining its sound.

As it was a lot less "commercially oriented" than the EP, as such wasn't very popular among general public, but years later sorta became a critic and fan favourite of the whole Yugoslav New wave movement. Deservedly so.

FULL ALBUM

After that, Idoli released two more albums - one of them was a soundtrack album which I don't think was even a team effort, as well as not being in any sense "new wave" or "post punk", so I won't talk about it.
I will mention their second album, "Čokolada" (1983). This album, while commercially incredibly succesful, went musically in a completely different direction than Odbrana. The sound was polished, and some of the tunes border on bubblegum pop. I still like it a lot though. And while this album as a whole hardly qualifies under a "new wave/post punk" label, there are some tracks that should be mentioned.

Radostan dan - probably wrong tournament for a track like this, but great and one of my favourite Idoli songs.

I won't be mad if you vote against them, but check them out.

(note: some of the video versions of the songs are slightly different to those on actual records)

The most difficult pick of this round of four matchups. I'm gonna do some relistening later, but leaning towards Idoli at the minute.

What do you mean? Do you need someone who hasn't voted yet, cause I voted, but I'd be willing to break the tie in favor of Idoli, but that'd be unfair.
