|
OK this is a thing that I've actually done a few times with friends. The idea is, put together your dream band made up of members of other bands. Also specify the genre that they would be playing. Up to you guys if you want to go living people only or both living and dead. If you want to try and name your band, (I haven't) you're free to do that. For example, here is mine:
Folksy Alt-Rock
Stephen Merrit, Vocals, backing guitar (Magnetic Fields)
Justin Vernon, Lead Guitar (Bon Iver)
N.U. Unruh, Percussion (Einstürzende Neubauten)
Anna Bulbrook, Viola (Airborne Toxic Event)
Noah Harmon, Bass (Airborne Toxic Event)
Ryan Delahoussaye, Violin (Blue October)
Neyla Pekarek, Cello (Lumineers)
If you couldn't tell, I really like the idea of a band having a set string quartet in it, and those are my favorite string players. _________________

Would they take turns singing or harmonize or what? And who would do the lyrics?

Nice! I remember my very first post on this site was on a thread like this. This is what I posted back then:
If we're going for sheer musical ability, this is about what mine would look like:
Vocals - Michael Jackson
Guitar - Jimi Hendrix
Drums - Neil Peart
Bass - John Entwistle
Keys - Keith Emerson
Now if it were to be made up of my personal favorites:
Vocals - Cedrix Bixler-Zavala
Guitar - John Petrucci
Drums - Matt Cameron
Bass - John Entwistle
Keys - Kevin Moore
I'd have to re-think those lists nowadays, though

I like this lineup with the only change I might make is the vocalist. With the amount of talented musicians in the band I might just have Jimi go ahead and sing and have a 4 member group. That way everybody gets 25% of the massive amounts of money they would make instead of 20%. Of course I would be their manager.
