Eric Talyor's debut "Shameless Love" is as tender and heartbroken as anything I have ever listened to.
Nanci Griffith provides harmony vocals on many of the tracks here. Mr. Taylor was married to Griffith until about 1982, and he was featured on Dollar Matinee on her first album. For all we know, they could have been going through angry marital disputes at the same time they were recording these heavenly harmonies.
"Shameless Love" is a criminally forgotten folk record and well worth discovery. It is a milestone in the underground Anderson Fair Restsurant and the Kerrville Folk Festival which made up the Houston folk scene, featured in the documentary "For the Sake of the Song."
This album is not available on streaming, but can be purchased on Amazon.com or Blue Ruby Music, Mr. Taylor's label.
