Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 8% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.4/100, a mean average of 74.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 20.3.

Classic power pop from a sadly departed quartet, these guys should have been as big as anyone but remain criminally neglected.
Hearing some good things about this album I took the plunge and thoroughly checked it out
And oh is it diverse ! From the Beach Boys influenced 'Hush' , 'Sebrina, Paste' and 'Russian Hill' to the Ben Folds esque 'Joining A Fan Club' and 'He's My Best Friend ' and the Queenish 'New Mistake' with Baroque Pop in-between
'The Ghost At #1' was my favourite track off the album
Overall I'm glad I heard this album , but its not something I'd return to . Overall it just isn't in my musical wheel house
Whimsical

I see the Beach Boys comparisons right away, even some Mamas & Papas. An immediate favorite for me
Brian Wilson-esque melodies help to make this an enjoyable and summery pop album. A bit throwaway, but lovely in places.
Overblown in all the right ways.
Sounds strongly influenced by The Beach Boys and XTC, with a touch of Glam/Power Pop. Extremely quirky and zany, especially "Sebrina, Paste & Plato" which is easily one of the better tracks. "The Ghost At Number One" is another favorite. Overall, not very original but still a great album.
