Creepy but beautiful.
I so agree that the fake choir makes the song darker, quite unnerving! I love how the song starts slow and acoustic, and after a good while the band kicks in, and then comes the crescendo, before slowing down again. Good songwriting. I'm also fascinated how they chose to let us hear every "p" and "t" Thom sings, so clearly, I both love it and get freaked out!
Truly captures the utter sadness of Romeo and Juliet. Only "Wuthering Heights" compares in terms of accurately portraying the essence of a literary work through song.
Powerful song! The backwards sounds of children are really creepy and the use of the "fake" mellotron choir is actually making it even darker than if it was a real choir.
