Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 91.7/100, a mean average of 90.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 92.1/100. The standard deviation for this track is 15.2.

THIS STATEEEEEE OF EMMMMEERRGGEENCYYYY
Best track of all time.
OF. ALL. TIME.
La canción más bella que he escuchado en los últimos meses. Me conmovió casi hasta las lagrimas cuando la escuche con su respectivo videoclip.
At first the lyrics seemed like they would dive head first into cheeseland, but the further you go the better it gets.
this song is simply beautiful.
Probably the best song I can remember discovering on the radio. The beauty struck me at first listen too, which is also somewhat rare. Had to go out and buy the album as soon as I knew who it was. Rarity #3.
Bliss
or is this the opposite?
Just as "emotional landscapes puzzle" the narrator, so does this song puzzle me... admittedly, the song is highly addicting and entrancing, strange and unique as it is. A lot of layers in the track's texture result in a symphonious depth with much to consider and listen to simultaneously. There's an understated strings section; smooth, sweeping vocals; relaxed percussion; but with this unusual funk electronic riff during the chorus that blends perfectly with the other layers. There are also a couple of interludes, one reserved for an electronics section, the other for looped vocals, but equally odd.
It's how distinct this selection was composed that garners its wide critical acclaim, and for good reason. More cryptic is the meaning of the lyrics. Imagine that one instantaneous moment, that one cathartic enlightenment, when an intimate friend discovers the truth you've tirelessly pursued. Everything concerning your existence, and the reasons for your current state, can be traced back to this root node. It's possibly a subtle or abstruse characteristic that causes you to exhibit a certain behavior that's unconsciously repeated, and as a result has shaped the events in your life, beyond your control, for better or for worse. Suddenly there's no mystery; the "accidents that happen" in your life are actually very deterministic based on your inherent decision-making and pattern of choices. This immediate, unexpected, and startling realization propels you into a "state of emergency" - a sense of emergence of a more cultivated self, in touch with your mental processes and heart's desires, or perhaps your personal (self-destructive?) flaws, which you now have an opportunity to counteract. This demonstrates not only the power of a single moment of enlightenment, but also the power of a single connection with a cherished friend.
Bjork's gonna get me into trip-hop!
