Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 92.4/100, a mean average of 91.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 92.7/100. The standard deviation for this track is 13.4.

No words… Just, a masterpiece.
This song made me cry, it's so beautiful. From the acoustic intro to the lyrics to the solo, it's so beautiful. I still think Master Of Puppets is my favorite Metallica song but this is a VERY close second
I've maybe listened to this song a thousand times. It defined so much of my high school experience (from freshman year) and has stayed with me over the years. It always transports me to a dark but passionate place in my head, and makes me feel like writing (which is what I now do professionally). The vocals of Hetfield are never better for me than on this track. They are haunting and vulnerable, and the guitar sinks you lower and lower into the void.
Ride the Lightning was much more melodic than Kill em All, and Fade To Black was the best example of that.
Possibly Metallica's greatest song. From the acoustic intro to the fantastic solo and lyrics, this is one of Metallica's definitive moments.
Great song, but not the best by Metallica
A Brilliant song whether you call it a ballad or not. Some of Kirk's most brilliant soloing and some of Hetfield's most criminally awesome songwriting.
Definitely one of their best
One of the greatest songs ever written. Period.
The beginning guitar is a great beginning to the song, and the rhythm is not only cool, but soft and hard at the same time when you look at it. I'm not talking about the soft parts seperated from the heavy parts. I mean the soft parts have a couple of small heavy elements and vice-versa.
