Okay, ideally, yes, this is how any artist would do it. Unfortunately, that's not always how the music industry works. There's a lot of pressure to get albums out sooner rather than later, and sometimes great (but not the best) is all you can muster.

There is no way that Rivers Cuomo can possibly think that every new album he puts out is his best. He must know he's lost it. But it pays the bills.
That exception aside, I tend to agree with Necharsian.

I think he's a bit deluded. If you asked him what his favourite is, he'd probably say Raditude or Make Believe.

It's true, he did say that his favorite Weezer song is "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived". Which is easily one of the shittiest songs I've ever heard. And yet it's still one of the better songs on The Red Album...

I want to believe this album is going to be amazing, but a cynical part of me says it will be a let-down.
Wayne Coyne is an amazing person, but his personality can over-sell things. Fucking amazing person.
I'll definitely look into it when it comes out.

I disagree with that, actually. The Greatest Man That Ever Lived is up there with the best (and most creative) songs he's ever written. Just ignore the terrible rap intro.

Throw in the fucking vocal/snare interlude with the rap intro and I might agree with you. Unfortunately, the shit represents much too large of a percentage of the song, making it utterly irredeemable.
