A great album following the departure of resident avant-gardist, John Cale. While I prefer the first two records, the songwriting here is top notch. After Hours, song by drummer Moe Tucker is easily the most innocent thing these NY dirt bags did. I could not believe the song was them upon first listen.

I don't want to choose between the first 3 VU albums. This is splendid, period. "Beginning to See the Light" a very strong favourite.

This + Candy Says is another classic and the only song I don't like is That's the Story of My Life (and Jesus is only good, not great).
