This guy seems awfully divisive and I'm not even sure who he is.
[Samples some tracks off album]
This sounds like the kind of thing they'd play in the background of a movie when the protagonist drives to the beach. It's unremarkable, which is probably the worst thing an album can be.

Have you lived in the United States since 2001? If so and you've never heard a Jack Johnson song you must live on some remote farm miles and miles from society with no TV or radio of any kind.

Haha, yes, but I was already out of college at that point. This totally sounds like the kind of artist people listen to in college. They finally get their hands on some good weed and decide what they've been missing is some soft beach-rock. As a man with a 9-5 job, this feel-good slacker nonsense wasn't on my radar. But when I skipped through it earlier, I definitely recognized that "always waiting on you" track. Ugh.

This is an AMAZING album, even it doesn't seem to be a remarkable thing sometimes. But it really is!
Those good vibes in this record will always be with me mi whole life.

Why would Miles Davis dedicate a tribute album to a white guy with an acoustic guitar? _________________

Boris once made an album about the Nick Drakes, and they're like a pussier version of Jack Johnson.

This one has to be his best album. I pretty much stopped listening to him. But I always thought he was good at what he did. Nothing ground breaking, but respectable none the less.
