I really, really hate The Band. I used to think this album was decent because of "The Weight", but now I realize that even that is overwrought mush with only a nice chorus to save it.
Would this be on the top 50 Rolling Stone albums if it wasn't associated with Bob Dylan?

Well, for starters, I'm not the biggest Bob Dylan fan in the world, but it really is that they're so overwrought in their melodramatic folk-rock.

They were much, much more than just their connection to Dylan. Overwrought? Melodramatic? I just don't see or hear that in them at all..... _________________ I'm leaning on the threshold

Here I thought The Band's emotive expressiveness was earnest. But I guess when you are up against Reel Big Fish your emotional sincerity has to be judged harshly.
