i have a friend i have so much respect for who swears by the greatness of this album. i can respect that. it's all relative, right? he's more of a production snob than i am though, and he carries on and on about the 'how' this album was recorded. i've never heard him talk about how much crack. i mean, i've never heard him talk about the songwriting or anything.

i think we listen to music differently. production is important as anything else, but good production don't make up for... wait, i'm not opening that can of worms again. anyway, with regards to this album, i don't see it. or... don't 'get' it. hell, forget the album. i really can't stand any of these tracks. it's all so obnoxious.

I would think myself very tedious to overindulge in white bread, but even moreso to always shun it.

I don't care about the production value but I do like this album a lot. There is a lot of music I have been calling muzak or slick lately but this album (or the band) isn't one of it; it's jazzy flow is just wonderful.

The Dan's jazzy influences are more evident than ever here which should be a good thing--but ironically, somehow at the same time as getting jazzier, they actually lost some of their edge and went more mainstream. Overall, that keeps this from being the pinnacle of Dan, but still a great album.
