Solid enough, but still their weakest effort by a considerable margin. Those first 2 songs rock hard.

Totally. Some (not many) from Muse may be as good or even better, but no song has emulated this one.

The rest is mostly hit and miss but still it is a strong debut and shows the direction the band was taking, a direction I hope they find again on their upcomming album.

Muse was my favourite band as an angsty early-teen. Recently went back and listened to their older shit and their first two albums hold up as decent alt-rock fare. They were a fun band when they didn't take themselves so seriously.

There's a sharp drop-off with Absolution. They disappeared all the way up their own arseholes and haven't been seen since.
