I always forget that I've even listened to this album and that could be why I can't remember almost anything about this album, apart from New Slang - that's a song I could never forget. _________________

Finding this album to be forgettable is something I could never remotely relate to. One of my favorite albums of all time, Mercer's melodies crawl into my head for days at a time. He was just approaching his creative peak here, and it's an infectious jaunt not to be missed.

Reminds me of The Beach Boys sometimes. But the more artistic side of them of course.
Pretty good, but not the greatest ever.

Wonderfully original in many ways, instrumentally, melodically and lyrically. Whilst it's not my favourite Shins album (that'd be Wincing the Night Away), it's a pretty dead heat between their first three. Plus this has New Slang, which is just one of the greatest songs ever. It says something about the quality of this album that I'm not even sure it's my favourite on here. Love it!

I love this one. I actually wouldn't rank New Slang as one of my favorites on the album though, not that I don't like it, I just like other ones more. I really like Girl Inform Me, Pressed in a Book, Past and Pending, Know Your Onion, really most of the songs.

Completely agree. It's a great song, but somehow still a bit overrated. All of those that you mentioned I like more, plus Caring Is Creepy and One By One All Day. Shows how consistently great the album really is.
