I moved into my new unfurnished flat in December and it's pretty tight. The old tenants left lots of nails in the walls, which is great because it means I can hang stuff without taking a punch in the deposit.
Trouble is I'm pretty unversed in art, so I thought I'd reach out to BEA's men of culture and fine taste.
I really want to steer clear of anything gimmicky or obviously pop culture, but I also don't want anything that makes it look like I ponder that shit for hours, just fine solid art from some established artist from the last 200 years.
Currently all I have is a very faded print of Klimt's 'Three Ages of Woman', but that's a painting I remember liking since I was a kid.
A nice selection, thanks! Particularly like Joan Mirรณ, so thanks for introducing me. I definitely lean toward more abstract and colorful pieces, but I also like to have a clear sense of what's going on at the same time (faces, environments etc).
I love Hopper's Nighthawks but it'd be a dead cliche at this point.

Going to throw out that I def rec original art from friends/self-made/local stuff you like, but as far as prints go, I'd second Miro, maybe look up some of Basquiat's stuff, Francisco Bores, Klee, Arshile Gorky, Andrรฉ Masson, Giacometti, Goncharova, Magritte (not his cliche popular stuff), Picabia, Tzara, Almada Negreiros, Braque, Munch, Kooning, Malevich, Grosz, El Lissitzky, maybe the Pollock/Rothko/Van Gogh popular stuff, and I dunno... maybe Francis Bacon if that's not too scary n whatnot. Plenty more. The less popular the better though, don't wanna be to kitsch. My dp's Schiele, but he's not exactly wall-hanging material.
Maybe some musician's paintings too. Patti Smith, Kim Gordon, Bowie, etc... there's even a few original Bob Dylan paintings at Harrods right now if you have the spare cash ๐คฃ _________________ Doubles & Conch

You're totally right, and I'm definitely in the right town for it. Local stuff tends not to be reproductions though, and can get a little pricey. Maybe I'm just being impatient.
Cheers for all those suggestions though, I'll definitely have a sort through them all.
Hadn't crossed my mind to look at musicians art, but it makes sense. I thought about having some album covers around, but that's probably a bit tacky, I like this a lot more!
