Beat Konducta Vol. 5-6: A Tribute To... by Madlib

I've listened to nearly everything that Madlib has done, so, yes, I had heard this before, but I can always sit down and listen to one of the greatest. Listening to Madlib and J Dilla, to me, is like freebasing hip hop in it's purest form. There's nothing quite like it.

Luigii, how many times have I had you now?

Ambient 1: Music For Airports by Brian Eno

He has produced some great albums but this is the first Brian Eno album I have listened to. Like a lot of ambient music it probably should be background music, and for me whenever music is playing it's in the foreground. So it sets an atmosphere, and I hear the quality to it, but it doesn't interest me enough, excite me, or draw me in so I get lost in the music. It would adequately fulfil a role that I rarely call on music for. It's okay, nice, pleasant music that I appreciate in a distant way.

I See Seaweed by The Drones

Holy fuck! Thank you Thank you Thank you this was awesome a truly powerful sonically creative album that truly enjoyed. Darker than i often go but this was a kick ass tour de force. Will make my yearly and possibly decade charts and is a strong 4.5/5. Terriffic stuff i recommend t to everyone.

My Choice is:
Ask Questions Later by Cop Shoot Cop

This is one of those albums that if you gave it to other people, they would consider it lame. But me, I love this. Then again, as a listener I have branched to other directions. I could love some of the most well revered album out there but also support stuff like New Age and at some point Smooth Jazz albums.

Like I love the voice of the singer as well as the sound of the album. Hell, the cover of Wonderwall is one of my favorites just by taking the piss out of the Rockstars. Basically similar to The Cardigans cover of Iron Man. That is the shit I can get behind.

Grade:90

My pick:

Joni Mitchell's 1976 album Hejira.

Another album i love hejira is part of that great run of joni albums. a true masterpiece an among the retest albums of all-time this will probably be my 50th listen to this album s 60-70's classic rock is my wheel house.

Hejira by Joni Mitchell

my recommendation:
Bish Bosch by Scott Walker

Across 110th Street by Bobby Womack & J.J. Johnson

This was good, but I've listened to so much 70s soundtrack music that it all kind of sounds the same now. Good for the background, but not much for me on active listening.

Here's one back at ya glynspsa. From my best ever chart.

Ask Questions Later by Cop Shoot Cop

Oh yeah...this was great! Some gloomy, muddy, powerful, industrial, post-punky, noise rock. The album just seemed to get better as it went along and from Cause and Effect onwards was an excellent finish. Great atmosphere throughout.

I believe this was for me:

I feel like my opinion would for this album if I have heard his other dark albums like 1995's Tilt or 2006's The Drift, but this is my opinion as of now. In one breath, there is a lot of compelling ideas and techniques in this album. Like I can totally see this album being a personal favorite for people that like there music being weird. And this album is one of the weirdest from the 2010's. However, I start to realize that though I do like music that is bizarre and out there, I need a balance. What do I mean a balance? I'm referring to not only being out there but also have structure.
The reason I prefer albums like Medulla or Geogaddi is that though those are weird albums, they do have appeals to "Pop." And I do put Pop in quotations because thought those albums aren't poppy, those have more structure and stuff I could latch on to as a listener. So even though I do think this is a good record, It's not one of those records I would go crazy for.
Grade:70

Next choice: Here's an easy one.
Dam Funk's 2015 album Invite The Light.

You Won't Get What You Want by Daughters

This was long on my list of 2018 albums I needed to listen to and I'm glad I finally got around to it. I loved it, definitely going high on my 2018 chart. It has this crazy, chaotic sound that I love, it's raw and and it's in your face, it really kicks you in the teeth in a good way. Great album.

Glynspa, I'm giving you this unless you've heard it:
