This is fantastic! How has it taken this long for anyone to choose this for me? It's been an option many times. Thanks Seth for doing so! This is my sort of thing. I already knew Cinnamon Girl but everything else was knew to me. I didn't want Down By The River to end. I love Neil's voice, and the guitar sound on this album. The best Neil Young album I've heard so far.
I give it a rating of - 9/10, ranked 6/27 for 1969 (again I say such a great year), and 16/79 for the 60's.

Crack The Skye by Mastodon
This was actually pretty fantastic. Sometimes I feel like metal bands over stay their welcome... like they are really good at this one thing, and the rest they don't balance so well. This however... I felt very balanced, which then allowed the vocals, guitar, bass, drums, etc. give dynamic all in the right places. I've heard Mastodon before, but not this record and it surprised me for sure. 85-90.
2. I know nothing about this record baystate, but maybe it's legit: Dolmen Music - Meredith Monk

Battlecat is/was a producer from the West Coast; apparently he's still an onstage DJ for Snoop. This album showcases everything that is good about the G-Funk sound. The featured rappers aren't always top form, but most of the instrumentals on this thing were pretty solid. Here's a sample.
Seth, listen to the Van Der Graaf Generator. Peter Hammill is a pretty good and weird Prog-dude.
Mental Dimension- MD's .....On the Come In
Ill Biskits- Chronicle of Two Losers
Citizen Kane- Deliverance
Various Artists- Tribal Music Do the Math
Mr. Ivan- 187 in "A" Hockey Mask
Street Poets- Street Poets
Young Gangstas- Pre-Meditated Gangstarism
Greer - Ill Visions
Red Money- II Much Red
StreeThugs- Not to Be Fu•?ed With
This is perfectly fine, nice and pleasant album. However for me perfectly fine, nice and pleasant can also be a downfall, as in this case. The undoubted quality of the singing, harmonising, and songwriting elevates it from a dull listen though. So an okay album for me. A rating of 7/10, a ranking of 26/28 for 1969, and 76/80 for the 60's.
Rocka I am choosing Young Gangstas- Pre-Meditated Gangstarism. I want to know what a $1000 album sounds like without having to listen to it myself 😁

Lol what the hell is this? Instrumentally it's pretty simple, straightforward modern classical, a bit like a blank canvass. Vocally it's... quite something. Monk is clearly into using the voice as an instrument, but this just feels like the equivalent of noodling most of the time. In her mostly non-verbal singing, her voice goes all over the place, at times sounding like a baby or an animal, and at times sounding like nothing familiar. What can I say that's nice about this? It gave us the key samples for Midnight In A Perfect World, and occasionally it sounds good. However, for half or more of the time, it's a gratuitously annoying, ridiculous (I laughed out loud multiple times) vocal exercise that reminds us that just because a piece of art can be created doesn't necessarily mean it should be. It was clearly put together with a lot of thought, and there are some redeeming moments, so I'm going to lean toward the generous with my grade, but either way this isn't staying in my library. 2.5/5.

Pawn Hearts by Van Der Graaf Generator
I had a rollercoaster ride with this one, but overall would give it an 85 with room to grow to a 90. But it was funny, I listened to it on my way to work and was like wow, this is lush... dude sounds like a chick and a dood at the same time which I kinda liked... And at triple time a tingle like Bowie. Anyway... I dug it. Then I leave work and the state of mind I was in was like ok this is shit. And then by the end of it I really liked it again... haha. My distaste only lasted one song and I think it was a case of reader response theory.
