BEA 2018 Championship Tournament

baystateoftheart · 2019-06-01T14:15:17-04:00

Hello everyone, Nominations for the BEA 2018 championship tournament will open on July 1. In the meantime, I thought I'd gather some opinions on rules for this year. Here are my questions: 1. Should we stick with the randomized seed pairings like last year, or go with a more traditional #1 vs. #16, #2 vs. #15 etc.? 2. What types of releases should be permitted as nominees this year? Should EPs, live albums, archival albums, dj mixes, and compilations be permitted? 3. Do you have other rules suggestions that don't involve totally upending the structure of the tournament? -------------------- EDIT: Here's the spreadsheet for the tournament.

Good suggestion - just added the spreadsheet link to the OP

If we don't get enough votes, would we have to go for drastic measures and have people vote for a second record?

I hope there'll be enough. If there aren't enough the backup plan will be same as last year - top-ranked albums fill the bracket.

Actually that plan is also good. And better.

I wasn't going to do it cause I don't know many 2018 albums, but given the PM and I'd love to lend a helping hand, I'll nominate this, even if this isn't the most amazing album of the year, I immediately chill listening to it - it kind of takes me to chill land: (I love run-on sentences)

(also I have a bad habit of not looking at stickied items unless I'm bored - READ: last thing I look at on a forum for some reason... probably me just being an idiot... so igore the comment)
