But Taylor Swift and Harry Styles? Are you serious?
Don't get me wrong I like some of these two artists' music but never should they, and a lot more besides, have gotten into an all-time list.

There are not 500 truly great albums in my opinion. Therefore it's impossible to have a consensus on such a large number.

There are millions of albums in this world. It's entirely possible.

There are well over 500 great albums. (I know because I've heard them).

If anything, 500 albums is much too short of a list to show all of the influential/great albums. They’ve barely touched some diverse genres like electronic and metal, and even with all of the rock, hip hop and pop stuff that they’ve chosen, there’s still a lot of classics missing (understandably).

That being said, people define “great” differently.

Touché! Still I think the word great is overused. How large is the consensus, how varied are the users?
+ you're right, the more your listen to music, the more enthusiast you generally are, so that some albums will (sometimes) seem overrated to someone who listen to less music. At first sight, you could think that a music specialist would be more picky about music. But is it so?
