I'm surprised nobody has talked about this record yet. Dropped at the end of last month, finally got around to listening. It's a work of genius, really. Anna got some attention in 2015 with her EP, started touring with Father John Misty and others and gaining traction. Then she quickly burnt out and dropped off the grid. She's finally back with her debut album and it's really miraculous. Brilliant lyricism and musicality. She's riding a similar wavelength as Fiona Apple. This is going to be one of the big ones of the year
Jim Jones came out with another great album, this time collaborating with Harry Fraud. I know a lot of ya'll didn't care for Jim Jones' 2019 album El Capo, but it was one of my favorites of that year. Skinny, you especially might dig the new Jim Jones record since you put me onto El Capo. It's not quite as great as El Capo but its enough for me to say Jim Jones is on a hot streak

I largely agree. Even I havenโt written anything on it despite having almost no filter for my half baked ideas and thoughts. And this really is a very interesting and creative album. Highly recommended. Only listened once, was impressed and meant to come back and write something on it. But just never did. _________________ -Ryan
Carnage is great, in case anyone was wondering. It seems that mr. Cave cannot miss.
Just going through it again right now. Easy AOTY so far for me. Every track has something great going for it. I'd give it an edge up on Ghosteen for sure. Production's awesome.
That's five decades in a row for Cave. Crazy to realize the transition from punk singer to this. _________________ Doubles & Conch

I've never really listened to her music, I'm aware that she's been playing stadiums for some time now, and I know Beggar's Banquet and 4AD aren't exactly the underdogs they're branded to be, but the perception around St. Vincent seems like one of the more grotesque progressions from a genuine and earnest musician to something so swaddled by marketing language and imagery that it's fuzzy whether anything is actually conveyed by the individual themselves. Ariana Grande's marketing team somehow makes a better case for an authentic portrayal of the self.

Just listening to it for the first time, and I have to say this may already be my favorite thing Cave has ever done. I've been a fan for a few decades. He's the extremely rare artist who seems to continuously evolve and get better. I'm just in total awe of what I'm hearing.
How many artists have had careers with this sort of longevity and consistency? It's really difficult to name any modern artists with a career like Cave's.
Dylan has the longevity, but I'd argue against consistency.
PJ Harvey has the consistency, but not yet the longevity
Don't think most would place Sparks quite on this level
Bjork hasn't been around quite as long
Bowie is the only artist I can think of that's really comparable. _________________ http://jonnyleather.com

Wow I was listening to it on the bus ride so that might be a factor, but I thought it wasn't nearly as good as Ghosteen (although it was still great). Will give it another listen tonight. The lyrics were some of his best, that's for sure. _________________ Overall chart Fake overall chart
