I adore this album. It's maybe a bit too long and there are low points that bring down the album, but the overall product is a wonderful exploration of Afrofuturism.
Maybe I'm a bit of a sucker for Fritz Lang's Metropolis and everything that draws inspiration from it (like Star Wars), but to me The ArchAndroid is a pinnacle of the genre. Everything from the lyrics to the sparse vocoder use to even the album artwork is fantastic. And despite its flaws, every time I start to listen to one song I can't help but listen to the whole suite.
Unfortunately the vinyl copy I own has two disc 1s and no disc 2... packaging error I guess. At least my favorite track is on side 1. If anyone out there has two disc 2s and wants to trade me, PM me lol
Track picks:
- Cold War
- Faster
- Come Alive (War of the Roses)
- Wondaland _________________ 51 Washington, D.C. albums!

it goes beyond you being a sucker for fritz. this album is incredible. i had to buy an extra copy for my sister the first time i heard it. i'm skeptical of concept albums in general because they tend to construct an impenetrable fourth wall, but she manages to avoid that with this record, knowing when to let the mask down a bit and relate to her audience. even as a cyborg from the future. brilliant songwriting that really covers a lot of ground genre-wise and stunning performances from everyone. i could live without the of montreal track, but the rest is probably as perfect as pop gets.

Oh yeah that's definitely the low point. And agreed, I think some of the best concept albums are ones where a majority of the songs when listened to individually can still be great even without the context of the rest of the concept, but then when together form something even greater.
PS neither you nor your sister have an extra copy of vinyl disc 2 do you? _________________ 51 Washington, D.C. albums!
