If anyone still wants me to work on my 1979 Hard Rock/Metal Countdown, let me know. I aim to please. Your pleasures are mine. Especially since I am once again single. I am all yours as they say.
I will start in the beginning - 1980. The process will be fairly simple. I will listen to all my old faves again. If it still strikes that chord. If it still demands to be heard today and crushes me with its (emotional) power, I will write about it. My goal is to cherry pick the ten to fifteen albums best albums of each year of the 80s. After selecting all of the albums for that year, I will rank them. The top ten from each year will represent in the final product.
I LOVE a lot of albums. Especially from the 80s. So my entry criteria is quite simple. I am only letting what I consider 5-Star Albums into this chart! The ones that you'd bring to a desert album if you could plan for such a thing. Have a rec? I'm all takers. Have another an idea? I'm all ears.

Glad to see you work on the eighties and I'm sure you can do both 1979 metal and 80's classic albums.
And for these I can't even begin to name the classics because there are so many from bands with their highlights in that decade like Hüsker Dü (they are by far my favorite eighties band and occupy the first, second, 19th, 20th (Bob Mould), 66th, 76th rank and 89th (Grant Hart) in my decade chart) and of course also R.E.M., Metallica, Sonic Youth, Pixies, Talking Heads, Iron Maiden, Sisters Of Mercy, Triffids, Midnight Oil, Screamin' Trees, Dream Syndicate, Dire Straights, Fischer Z, etc etc.
But my favorite rec remains the album from the band (nearly) nobody else seems to like:

Well, the 80's mark the beginning of hip hop's golden era. Not sure what your feelings are towards it, but If you are into this sort of stuff, there's so much I could recommend I don't even know where to begin from. Outside the super obvious choices - a decent starter's kit would have to include Slick Rick, Boogie Down Productions, Public Enemy, N.W.A., Eric B./Rakim, De La Soul, Ice-T, Big Daddy Kane, Eazy E, Jungle Brothers, LL Cool J, Queen Latifah, Too $hort, Kool G Rap/Dj Polo, Run D.M.C., Beastie Boys, more likely than not you are already familiar with those names - I would also add the following
