this was great. Yall are on a roll with your selections. With that Ichiko Aoba album I did indeed go on a 10 hour Aoba marathon and listened to 8 albums of hers back-to-back. And with this funky house, nu disco, sultry yet chill beast of an album I am all the more hyped for the next Murphy album dropping soon. This is just a cool album. The grooves are "off" enough to make em feel more human and alive and lovingly crafted. The vocals are so sultry and passionate at points and equally calm and collected on other moments. There is a certain gorgeous mix of mechanical sounds with human funk, and its dancy yet with so many great little production details and bits within the songs. This was great.

while in my opinion her 3rd best LP, its still quite solid. Saw her live on this tour and she was great.

I haven't listened to a lot of old blues but I like what I've heard, and love a lot of modern blues influenced acts, so it was good to hear an album by an old school blues artist in a modern setting. Sure it was a bit heavy at times, but it was broken up with some fun upbeat songs like Miss Maybelle, and even a bit of funkiness at times. Cool bluesy voice, although I wasn't as keen on the story speaking songs because I missed his singing voice, and some nice guitar work. 7.5/10 and 37/61 for 2000.
Peaceful As Hell is in my top 100 of the year. Not sure what you'll make of it Mercury so let's see.

I'd say this is about equal to her debut and significantly behind Golden Hour (which is on my overall chart). The instrumentation is straight-up country, with none of the sonic exploration of Golden Hour. The focus is therefore squarely on her beautiful vocals and on the songwriting. Several of these songs are sublimely beautiful, but Pageant Material also has its share of cheesy lyrics. Although no song is bad, the material isn't quite strong enough to make this a great record. It is a very good one though, and definitely worthwhile for other fans of Kacey Musgraves. 3.5/5.

This is a pretty great album. I could even see how this has 60's inspiration since they cover the Surfin Bird track. And some other tracks. I think the big take away for this is that there is a lot of tracks that are bops. Have energy. But I wouldn't say it's the most ambitious punk record for me. Or the most heavy hitting. The other thing I could mention is that this album did drag a bit. Grade wise:85

Well, I've finally heard the sprawling double album that many consider to be 2Pac's magnum opus (including a plurality of BEA apparently). It was definitely worth it, as there are numerous great album tracks that you won't find on Greatest Hits. But I don't think I'm being terribly unorthodox when I say this should have been a single album. As a single disc, All Eyez On Me could have been wall-to-wall bangers. Instead, we get a lot of filler that falls far beneath what Pac was capable of, and the album loses momentum in the second half. Quality control aside, after two discs I also started to find his flows and lyrics pretty repetitive. There are enough classic songs to make this a very good album, but I would not recommend listening to both discs consecutively. And for new listeners, Greatest Hits and Me Against The World both work better as discography entry points. 3.5/5.

Not quite my type of hip hop that I really enjoy, and to tell you the truth I'm probably a bit all hip hopped out from and for the first third of this year. I found this a bit too uneven, and a bit too long (I likely would have enjoyed it more without the middle section of tracks 10 to 13 that didn't do much for me). However there were a few highlights:- The powerful closer of Expansion Outro finishes the album on a high, Africa Dream was cool (as someone who loves to sing - going to karaoke tonight actually - and dance, but is well aware I'm bad at both and does it anyway, I loved the intro lines of "If you can talk you can sing / If you can walk you can dance / That's an old proverb from Zimbabwe"), and the funky Soul Rebels with De La Soul. I give this a light 7/10, and 54/62 in my 2000 chart.
I haven't heard any of these Baystate but I want to hear the Yeah Yeah Yeah EP the most, and if you don't like it at least it's short.
